I genuinely don't get how this game is seen as one of the great X games. The story, while OK on paper, falls flat on its face, with the only scene I didn't piss myself at is the one where double turns maverick, which was actually done somewhat well, X5 fucking demolishes this game in story, infact X5 wipes the floor with this game in pretty much every department. Storm owl, cyber peacock, Web spider and spirit mushroom are completely unthreatning, while slash beast is trying too hard. The mavericks in this game are pretty boring aswell, jet stingray, magma dragoon and Frost walrus are the only ones I liked. MMX4 tried to replicate the SNES style and failed. People hate mega man 8s OST, but I think that's only because it took a different direction, and I think it payed off with tracks like Frost man and both tengu man tracks.
Nothing connects with me here as say: Blizzard buffalo, X hunter stage 1, Sigma stage 1 and 2, Magna Centipede or Launch Octopus did. The music in X4 is a bit bland aswell, I can only really remember the intro stages from the top of my head, even X7 had amazing music. The dashes don't connect one after another, theres an awkward second after each dash when they should chain after one another like in the X games before it. I just don't get the hype for this game, the first thing I noticed about X4 is that it's alot less smooth feeling than the previous X games.
